Rules and Regulations


1- General Principles

Calma Boutique house is open all year round and is a Local Accommodation with License No. 144059/AL.

It is located in a traditional algarve village about 4 km from Cacela Velha (one of the most awarded beaches in Portugal).

The maximum accommodation capacity is 6 guests (eventually 7 if there is a small child).

Our moto is living slow in total connection with the locals, nature and with ourselves.

We have a fire extinguisher, fire blanket, first aid equipment and signs that are appropriate for the size of the space and accessible to guests. This equipment cannot be improperly removed from its location and should only be used if necessary.

Calma Boutique House is not responsible for accidents, damage, theft or robbery of guests.

Admission to Calma Boutique House implies acceptance of and compliance with these regulations.

2 – Admission

Calma Boutique House is open to the public in accordance with the applicable legislation in force and the rules set out in these regulations.

The possibility of staying at Calma Boutique House depends on the availability of accommodation, payment of the reservation under the agreed conditions and the identification of the guest and their companion(s).

Guests under the age of 18 may only stay accompanied by their parents or other legal guardians.

Access and stay is not permitted to anyone who:

Is obviously drunk;
Are in possession of psychotropic substances, narcotics or other substances prohibited by law;
Carry firearms or compressed air weapons;
Has previously harmed our home or its management entity or has disrespected these regulations;
Are accompanied by pets without having notified us at the time of booking and having accepted their stay (except guide dogs, in accordance with current legislation);
Does not intend to respect our sustainability protocol.

3 – Booking

Reservations are made on our website, or other plataforms where we announce.

When making a reservation, the guest must indicate the desired check-in and check-out dates and the number of guests.

There is no permanent reception, and the delivery of keys must be arranged in advance taking into account the following time windows: check-in between 4pm and 8pm; check-out until 11am.

All guests must identify themselves with a valid document at check-in and comply with other legally required formalities.

The daily rates are for the period between 3pm and 11am the following day. Departure after this time (until 16:00) or entry before this time (from 10:00) requires prior approval and payment of 50% of the daily rate in force.

Extensions to the period of stay previously established and indicated by the guest in the reservation may be altered upon prior consultation and will be granted subject to availability.

4 – Visitors and parties

Visitors of any kind are not allowed, nor are parties or any other event. Failure to comply may lead to expulsion without the right to a refund for the days not used, or to a refund of the deposit.

5 – Use

Calma Boutique House is duly fenced and has a complete house for guests to use.

The house has 3 bedrooms with a total of 4 beds (two double beds and two single beds). It also has 2 full bathrooms, 1 living room, an equipped kitchen with all the necessary utensils and an outdoor area with a porch with a dining and social area and a swimming pool with a hot and cold shower.

Weekly cleaning and linen change (for stayings longer than 7 days and upon request and extra charge).

Rules for using the pool:

The pool requires regular maintenance, carried out by an external team that comes to Calma Boutique House once a week in spring / summer and once every two weeks in fall / winter;
The pool is private and can be used 24 hours a day;
Before entering the pool, guests must shower in the outdoor shower provided for this purpose;
It is not allowed to use the pool with suncream, especially of chemical origin, which is harmful to living organisms;
Guests should only use the pool in their swimming costume;
Guests with skin wounds are not allowed in the pool, even if they are protected with dressings, bandages or adhesives, nor are those with communicable diseases, inflammations or diseases of the skin, eyes, ears and nasal passages, diarrhea and/or fever;
The bath towels provided by Calma Boutique House cannot be used in the pool (each guest must bring their own towels for use in the pool, we don’t provide them). If bath towels are used in the pool, a fee of €35 per towel will be charged;
Dishes, glasses and other potentially sharp and/or glass materials are not allowed in the pool area;
Children and babies must be supervised at all times (the pool has no safety railing).

6 – Conduct

Calma Boutique House does not allow:

Smoking inside the house;
Charging own electric cars without permission. If so, we keep your deposit;
Take the life of or cause harm to any living being or disturb the life of sheep, cows, etc. on neighboring land;
Taking samples of plants or rocks;
Destroying or damaging trees or plants;
Abandoning garbage or not sorting it properly. There are garbage cans next to the house where you should dispose of your garbage correctly every day;
Wearing wet clothes (e.g. bathing suits) on sofas, chairs, cushions, etc. both outdoors and indoors;
Putting objects in the toilets (contact lenses, cotton buds, sanitary towels, tampons, etc.); these should be placed in the appropriate bucket in the bathroom;
During your stay, avoid using hygiene and beauty products that are harmful to the environment, giving preference to natural, ecological and organic products;
Wear outdoor shoes inside the house;
Change the layout of furniture, equipment and/or decoration;
Light a fire outside or inside;
Receiving visitors;
Hold parties of any kind;
Bringing in animals, except with prior approval and guide dogs;
Having attitudes that disrespect local morals and good customs;
Consuming narcotic substances;
Causing damage to Calma Boutique House facilities.

7 – Guests’ rights and duties

Guests have the right to:

Use Calma Boutique House facilities and enjoy all the services indicated as included at the time of booking, in accordance with these regulations and the law;
Be informed in advance of all charges;
Consult the regulations governing the use of Calma Boutique House;
At check-in, find beds duly prepared with duvet / coverlet and pillows, according to the number of guests indicated and 1 set of towels for each guest;
Weekly cleaning and change of bath and bed linen (upon request);
Basic electricity, water, gas and Wi-Fi internet services;
Contact details in case of need;
Confidentiality of personal data;
Use the complaints book in accordance with the law and record any complaints they deem appropriate;
Make suggestions in writing to improve the way Calma Boutique House works.

The guest must:

Be friendly;
Respect Calma Boutique House’s commitment to be sustainable accommodation;
Minimize the use of plastics and other single-use materials during their stay and avoid waste;
Turn off stoves, heaters and all equipment when not in use;
Turn off the lights when you are not in a room or outside;
Always make sure that the taps are turned off properly;
Use water conscientiously;
Do not contribute to food waste;
Separate waste correctly (bins are located in the parking area);
Report any anomalies or deficiencies you notice in the operation of Calma Boutique House as soon as possible;
Use the facilities and equipment at Calma Boutique House as if you were at home, in an appropriate and careful manner, taking responsibility whenever you cause any damage to the accommodation or its equipment;
Avoid attitudes or noise that disturb the silence and peace of this place;
Shower in the outdoor shower before using the pool and do not go in with sunscreen on your skin;

Do not disturb animals, including those from nearby properties;
Keep the outside door closed;
Keep doors to the street closed at all times, as well as door shutters, to prevent insects and other animals from entering;
Air the house every day (if you don’t, the room can become damp). In winter, ventilate in the morning or afternoon and leave the shutters open during the day. In summer, keep the windows and shutters closed during the day and only open them at night to prevent heat from entering;
Whenever you go out, check if:
all the lights are off
the stove and heaters are turned off;
the taps have been turned off;
you take your keys.
Take advantage of this space to cultivate compassion and joy.

8 – What to bring (recommendations)

Pool towel;
Reusable bottle (to fill up with filtered water when you leave and minimize consumption of plastic bottles);
Natural and ecological hygiene and beauty products.

9 – Maintenance and cleaning

Cleaning and linen changes are done by the staff after one week’s stay. Guests must allow access to Calma Boutique House on a day and at a time to be agreed.

Please notice that our accommodation is pet friendly. We do accept pets (dogs and cats), and we try our best to keep the house clean from fur. Although we do our best to clean the property, it is possible that you can find some fur in the house. We do also ask the owners to avoid that the pets go on the sofa and to keep the textiles as clean as possible before they leave.

10 – Separating your garbage

All the garbage you make must be placed correctly in the bins in the kitchen (under the sink). On a daily basis, you should dispose of this garbage in the large bins next to the parking lot, otherwise, if garbage accumulates, it’s a country house and can attract rodents, insects, etc. You must respect the division into different containers for separating waste:

Plastic and Metal Packaging (yellow)

You should put: empty plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic packets, cans, styrofoam, aerosols.
Do not put: batteries, CDs, DVDs, pens, fuel jugs, paint and varnish jugs, non-packaging plastics, organic waste, glass, etc.
Good practice: drain packaging; flatten packaging; reuse your bags.

Paper and cardboard (blue)

You should put: flattened paper and cardboard packaging, newspapers, magazines, leaflets, paper bags, advertising leaflets.
Do not put: sticky, plasticized, aluminium, absorbent, greasy paper and cardboard, dirty tissues and napkins, toilet paper, wipes, diapers.
Good practice: spread out the packaging; prevent the paper from getting wet; don’t contaminate the paper


Glass (green)

You should put: glass bottles, jars and jars.
Do not put: lamps, cups, glasses, plates, crystal, mirrors, glass.
Good practice: drain the jars / jars / bottles well; you don’t need to remove the metal rings; avoid depositing the glass at times when the noise might be disturbing.

Undifferentiated waste (gray)

You should put: toilet paper, greasy paper and cardboard, crockery, cloths, other materials that cannot be recycled.
Do not put: batteries, household appliances, light bulbs, construction or demolition materials, green waste.
Good practice: minimize the use of non-recyclable or non-compostable waste


Organic waste (green) – do not use without our supervision

You should put: vegetables, fruit, peelings.
Do not put: non-biodegradable waste, leftover bread, citrus fruits (oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc.), garlic and onions, black walnuts, wheat, paper, rice, treated wood sawdust, charcoal and diseased plants.

11 – Parking

You must park outside Calma Boutique House (there is space outside of the house (not private)).

Calma Boutique House is not responsible for the safety of vehicles.

12 – Infringement of rules, damages and breaks

Any damage, breakage and/or breach of rules will be charged to your security deposit. If the amount is higher, you will be invoiced.

If the occupancy is higher than agreed, you bring pets without having been approved, tobacco smoke or other smoke is detected inside the house, in addition to the security deposit not being returned, you will not be able to stay at Calma Boutique House.

If you lose your keys, you will have to pay 50€ for each key.

13 – At the end of the stay

Before checking out, the guest must:

Arrange in advance the time for handing over the keys (by 11 a.m. on the day of check-out);
Wash and put away the dishes you have used;
Remove everything you have brought from the fridge;
Dispose all the garbage bags to the outdoor municipal garbages (not forgetting the recycling);
Collect all your personal belongings;
Inform the host if any of the appliances, kitchen tools or objects in the house got broken or defected;
Return all keys.
